A Unique Volunteer Experience

Teen Advisors participate in a 40-hour training and commit to two shifts per month for one year.

Teens in grades 9-11 are invited to apply to become a volunteer with the Teen Talk App. Teen Advisors complete their volunteer experience remotely, allowing them the flexibility to make a difference volunteering while still managing their other commitments.

Teens are always supervised and supported by professional clinicians while acting as a teen advisor on the app.

Comprehensive Training

With a focus on understanding values and bias, the Teen Talk App training exposes teens to the variety of experiences they will encounter on the app. Teens learn reflective communication skills, crisis intervention and how to recognize the signs of mental health struggles. Teen Advisors are trained to provide a nonjudgmental space for teens to vent and feel seen by their peers.

Teen Advisors learn coping skills throughout their training to support users as well as to utilize in their own lives. Through the Teen Talk App training, volunteers are empowered to become mental health ambassadors off the app as well. Teen advisors often become leaders in spreading awareness and support within their schools, families and communities.
